What level of care do you offer? Can I come & go as I wish?

We are a residential community for adults 55 and over. A new resident unable to take care of himself/herself in his/her everyday living in the areas of grooming, hygiene, personal mobility, ability to participate in meals and activities, and maintaining a clean living space can be serviced through Carmelite Carefree Village's assisted living program for an additional charge. Our residents can come and go as they wish, many keeping their cars here on site.

What if I or a loved one needs help with medications, bathing, meals, etc.?

Additional services such as medications assistance, bathing assistance, cueing, laundry service, or incontinence treatment, are available through Carmelite Carefree Village's assisted living program.

What are the rates?

Because our rates vary depending on whether the resident is Independent or Assisted Living, depending on the style of the apartment chosen, depending on the exact services to be rendered, and depending on who is delivering those services, rates need to be discussed in confidence. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your particular needs. Our rates are some of the most reasonable in the area for the services offered.

Do your apartments come with kitchens?

Because Carmelite Carefree Village provides 3 home-styled meals per day, a 24 hour Juice & Beverage Bar, and snacks throughout the day, we do not have to take up space in your apartment that may never be used. However, our One Bedroom Suites do come with a kitchette along with a space for your compact refrigerator and/or microwave.

Can I have a refrigerator or a microwave in my apartment?

Yes. Your apartment is your home! Your comfort is our most important concern. Appliances such as a compact refrigerator or a small microwave are welcome.

Do you allow pets?

No, we do not allow pets in resident’s room. We do, however, offer a regularly scheduled Pet-a-Pet Therapy among our many activities, where residents have an opportunity to relate one-on-one with friendly, lovable little animals.

Do you provide transportation to doctor’s appointments?

No, that is normally the responsibility of a resident or his/her family; however, if no such person is available, we can offer local public transportation options or call on one of our volunteer drivers if one is available. Be advised that we do have a physician who staffs our health clinic weekly.

What kind of activities do you provide? Do you have outings?

We offer a wide array of activities for all interest levels. You can participate in whatever ones you choose. Many involve excursions outside the building for shopping, visits to local points of interest, trips to a local casino, etc.

What kind of religious services do you offer?

Being that Carmelite Carefree Village is home to residents of a number of different denominations, we try to meet all their respective needs with a variety of available religious services.

Can my children visit anytime?

Being this is YOUR home, the answer is YES. Your family or loved ones are even welcome to join you for a meal whenever they visit.

Can I smoke at Carmelite Carefree Village?

For the safety, comfort, and well-being of residents, staff, and visitors, as well as in light of the new State of Illinois law, Carmelite Carefree Village is a SMOKE-FREE building.
